Oakland’s Cisco Field… 2012 at the earliest

The Oakland A’s have been selling the whole notion that their new ballpark… named Cisco Field and to be built in Fremont, would be ready in time for the 2011 baseball season.

Well not so fast, as they are now just starting on their environmental impact review, which should take 14-18 months to complete.

Says A’s co-owner Keith Wolff:

“If everything goes perfectly, 2012.”

Uh-oh… this doesn’t sound too promising now does it.

The good news is that they can still claim it looks delightfully intimate…

Leave it to the bureaucrats to take *years* to get anything done.
They usually wind up getting it wrong anyway, so the least they can do is be expeditious about it ;-)
