I hope you are having a great off season, I really enjoy reading the work of 2 people that I know on a first name basis. I think it's really great that you guys ( pete and andrew ) are continuing your great coverage of all of our local teams. Stay warm and enjoy the hockey season.

I agree with you with most of what you say. However, as I read this blog one thing kinda bothered me. Certainly I understand the loyalty to the SABRES since they are the hometown team and after all that is who you are obviously rooting for. What got to me was the fact that instead of separating the 2 stories (the game and KANE) you chose to meld them together in a needless fashion.
Why is it the the local media is so hell bent on underplaying and trying to ignore every story that isn't directly connected with the hometown team. The " OK KID NOW JUST DISAPPEAR INTO THE BACKGROUND FOR THE NIGHT" misses the point entirely. What you had was the chance to "celebrate the return of a local athletic hero" and instead the local "blog media" has chosen to treat the story like it was just another event. WE HAVE SUCCESS STORIES AND NO MATTER WHO THEY PLAY FOR THE DESERVE TO BE HONORED AND NOT SHUNNED FOR THEIR SUCCESSES. Are the Cleveland Indians supposed to be shunned in Buffalo for taking the Bisons? Do Paul Harris and Johnny Flynn deserve banishment because they went to SU instead of UB? Obviously the answer to this is a resounding NO! While I understand your viewpoint and I respect you as a person and I writer I really find fault with the way that the Kane story as a "evil sidebar" to the sabres game was presented and came accross. Yes the sabres played well and yes so did kane but lets make sure both get the accolades they so richly deserve.
